Hydrochem team go back to school to make sure systems are safe for the new term

STAFF from a water treatment specialist have been spending time back in the classroom over the summer to ensure heating systems meet the required safety standards.

Hydrochem sent teams of engineers into the new building at Holy Trinity Primary School, in Seaton Carew, to install a new water softener system and then carried out similar work on the existing water system at High Tunstall College of Science, in the West Park area of Hartlepool.

Gordon Galbraith, Sales Manager at the firm, said: “We have had teams of engineers working on both sites to install industrial-size water softeners over the summer.

“The work carried out at Holy Trinity had to be completed before the building was officially handed over with it being a complete new build after the old school was demolished.

“Basically, our job was install the equipment to flush through the entire system to take all the debris and anything else from within the copper piping around the building, and then to send chemicals through those pipes which prevent anything else getting into the system and into the water supply.

“Once we are happy with the way the system is working, we ensure it is providing soft water rather than hard water and is generally more efficient.

“The High Tunstall job came about after we took a call from an engineer at the school, so once again we installed the water softener and carried out all of the relevant checks before the pupils reported back for the new term.”

Hydrochem Managing Director Bill Abbott added: “We have clients based around the country, but it is always pleasing to work within the Hartlepool community on projects like these ones.

“We have an excellent relationship with the local authority and the schools, and will continue to monitor the systems in the months ahead to ensure everything remains within the recommended guidelines.”

Hydrochem was set up in 1987 and is now the longest serving water treatment company in the North East of England.

The firm has an impressive list of clients, including Bannatyne’s, Bourne Leisure and the Marriott Hotel chain, and has teams of specialists working at sites across the UK on a daily basis.

The business specialises in inspecting water systems, diagnosing problems and then supplying solutions across the boilers, heaters, air conditioning units, pipeworks and other water-based equipment as well as the likes of swimming pools and spas.

Hydrochem, which expanded its team to 20 earlier this year, also uses the innovative Safe-Water facility, which has been devised to include risk assessment of Legionella and other bacterial issues.
